Barbara Boxer Biography
Barbara Boxer (born November 11, 1940) is an American politician and lobbyist. She served in the United States Senate from 1993 to 2017, representing California. Prior to her Senate career, Boxer was the U.S. representative for California's 6th congressional district from 1983 to 1993. She was a member of the Democratic Party. Boxer was born in Brooklyn, New York City, and graduated from George W. Wingate High School and Brooklyn College. Before her political career, she worked as a stockbroker and journalist. Boxer served on the Marin County Board of Supervisors and became its first female president. In 1982, she was elected to the United States House of Representatives. Boxer won the U.S. Senate election in 1992 and was reelected twice.
