Gooding was born on February 22, 2000, in New York, New York, and was raised by their mother, LaChanze, a renowned actress, singer, and dancer. They attended the Hackley School, graduating with honors in performing arts. Gooding's father, Calvin Gooding, tragically died in the September 11 attacks. They have one sister named Zaya.
