Johnny Green Biography
Johnny Green (October 10, 1908 - May 15, 1989) was an American songwriter, composer, musical arranger, conductor, and pianist. He gained fame for his early song 'Body and Soul' from the revue Three's a Crowd. Green won four Academy Awards for his film scores and another for producing a short musical film. He was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1972. Born in New York City to musical parents Vivian Isidor Green and Irina Etelka Jellenik, Green attended Horace Mann School and the New York Military Academy before being accepted into Harvard. Throughout his career, he worked with notable colleagues and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
