Rosalie Sylvia Crutchley (4 January 1920 – 28 July 1997) was a British actress known for her television, theatre, and film performances. Trained at the Royal Academy of Music, she made her screen debut in 1947 as a violinist in Take My Life. Crutchley had a distinctive look with dark piercing eyes, often portraying foreign or sinister characters. She also excelled in classical roles, including Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Hermione in The Winter's Tale, and Goneril in King Lear. Some of her notable TV appearances include Madame Defarge in A Tale of Two Cities (1958) and Catherine Parr in The Six Wives of Henry VIII (1970). Crutchley passed away in London in 1997.
