Stephen F. Kroft (born August 22, 1945) is an American retired journalist, best known as a long-time correspondent for 60 Minutes. With a career spanning several decades, Kroft's investigative reporting earned him widespread acclaim and recognition, including three Peabody Awards and nine Emmy awards. In 2003, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Emmy award. Kroft was born in Kokomo, Indiana, and attended Syracuse University, where he earned his bachelor's degree from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Prior to his journalism career, Kroft served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he received several awards for his reporting and earned a Bronze Star for Meritorious Service.
