Adeel Akhtar (born September 18, 1980) is a British actor known for his versatile performances. He gained recognition for his role in the critically acclaimed film Ali & Ava, which earned him a British Academy Film Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Akhtar's talent has been acknowledged with numerous accolades, including a British Academy Television Award for Best Actor for his role in Murdered by My Father and a British Academy Television Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Sherwood. He has also been nominated for a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor for his work on Channel 4's Utopia. Akhtar, who hails from London, was educated at Cheltenham College and Oxford Brookes University before pursuing his passion for acting at the Actors Studio Drama School in New York.
