Al Freeman Jr. Biography
Al Freeman Jr. (March 21, 1934 – August 9, 2012) was an American actor, director, and educator. He was a life member of The Actors Studio and appeared in a wide range of plays, including Leroi Jones' Slave/Toilet and Joe Papp's revivals of Long Day's Journey Into Night and Troilus and Cressida. Freeman also had roles in films such as My Sweet Charlie, Finian's Rainbow, and Malcolm X. He made appearances on various television series and soap operas, including One Life to Live, The Cosby Show, Law & Order, Homicide: Life on the Street, and The Edge of Night. Freeman was born in San Antonio, Texas, and served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
