Blanche Baker is an American actress and filmmaker. She is known for her award-winning performance in the television mini-series Holocaust, for which she won an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Baker gained further recognition for her role as Ginny Baker in the film Sixteen Candles and for her portrayal of Lolita on Broadway. In addition to her acting career, Baker has also ventured into filmmaking and produced the film Ruth Madoff Occupies Wall Street, in which she also starred. Born in New York City, Baker is the daughter of actress Carroll Baker and director Jack Garfein. She has a diverse background, with her father being a Holocaust survivor and her mother having converted to Judaism. Baker has studied acting at renowned institutions like the Herbert Berghof Studio and the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
