Bob McGrath Biography
Robert Emmett McGrath (June 13, 1932 – December 4, 2022) was an American actor, musician, and children's author. He is best known for his role as Bob Johnson, the original human character and music teacher on the educational television series Sesame Street, which he portrayed from 1969 to 2016. Born in Ottawa, Illinois, McGrath had a passion for music from a young age and participated in the Roxy Theater's Amateur Program as a child. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1954, where he was a member of the Men's Glee Club and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. McGrath made significant contributions to children's education through his long-running role on Sesame Street.
