Brent Burns
Brent Burns (born March 9, 1985) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted as a right wing by the Minnesota Wild in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and later converted into a defenceman. Burns is known for his dynamic offensive play and versatility, having been utilized as a forward on several occasions. In the 2012–13 season, he played as a forward for the San Jose Sharks, but was returned to defence in the following season. Burns has been recognized for his outstanding play, finishing third in voting for the James Norris Memorial Trophy in 2015–16 and winning the award in 2016–17.
