Gloria Foster Biography
Gloria Foster (November 15, 1933 – September 29, 2001) was an American actress known for her acclaimed roles in plays such as In White America and Having Our Say. She won three Obie Awards throughout her career. Foster gained recognition for her portrayal of the Oracle in the films The Matrix (1999) and The Matrix Reloaded (2003), with the latter being her final film appearance. In addition, she played the role of Yusef Bell's mother in the mini-series The Atlanta Child Murders (1985). Born in Chicago, Illinois, Foster moved to Janesville, Wisconsin as a child after her mother's hospitalization. She attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and discovered her passion for acting at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago.
