James Duval Biography
James Edward Duval (born September 10, 1972) is an American actor known for his roles in Independence Day (1996), Go (1999), Donnie Darko (2001), May (2002), and the films of Gregg Araki. Duval has appeared in numerous independent films, including the psychological thriller The Black Waters of Echo's Pond (2009) and the mystery crime-thriller film Noirland. Born in Detroit to a Franco-Vietnamese mother and a father of Irish and Native American descent, Duval's family moved to Los Angeles when he was 2 years old. He grew up in the Greater Los Angeles area, attending elementary school in Redondo Beach and graduating from Gladstone High School in Covina in 1989. Duval's early career with Gregg Araki's Teenage Apocalypse films resonated with his personal experiences of nihilism, social alienation, and the search for identity.
