Joan Van Ark

Joan Van Ark (born June 16, 1943) is an American actress best known for her role as Valene Ewing on the primetime soap opera Knots Landing. She made her Broadway debut in 1966 and received a Theatre World Award and a Tony Award nomination. In 1978, Van Ark landed the role of Valene Ewing, which she played for 13 seasons on the spin-off Knots Landing. She won the Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Actress in 1986 and 1989 for her performance on the show. Van Ark also received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for hosting the Tournament of Roses Parade. She has appeared in various other TV shows and films throughout her career.
