John Sessions (11 January 1953 – 2 November 2020) was a British actor and comedian. Known for his comedy improvisation skills, he gained popularity through television shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway? and QI, where he served as a panellist. Sessions also had a successful career as a character actor, appearing in numerous films in both the UK and Hollywood. Born as John Marshall in Bedford, Bedfordshire, he was raised alongside an older brother and a twin sister. Sessions received his education at prestigious institutions like Bedford Modern School and the University College of North Wales, where he obtained an MA in English literature. He also pursued a PhD on John Cowper Powys at McMaster University.
