Kate Nelligan Biography
Kate Nelligan (born March 16, 1950) is a Canadian stage, film, and television actress. She gained recognition for her performance in the 1991 film The Prince of Tides, which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In the same year, she won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in Frankie and Johnny. Nelligan is also a four-time Tony Award nominee, receiving nods for her performances in Broadway productions like Plenty, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Serious Money, and Spoils of War. Born in London, Ontario, she grew up with a father who worked as a factory repairman and a mother who struggled with alcohol abuse and mental health issues.
