Mary Steenburgen Biography
Mary Nell Steenburgen (born February 8, 1953) is an American actress, comedian, singer, and songwriter. She made her professional acting debut in the 1978 Western comedy film Goin' South after studying at New York's Neighborhood Playhouse. Steenburgen earned critical acclaim for her roles in films such as Time After Time (1979) and Melvin and Howard (1980), for which she received the Golden Globe Award and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She also received a Golden Globe nomination for Ragtime (1981). Steenburgen has appeared in numerous other films, including Back to the Future Part III (1990), What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), Philadelphia (1993), and Nightmare Alley (2021).
