Orson Bean (born Dallas Frederick Burrows; July 22, 1928 – February 7, 2020) was an American film, television, and stage actor, as well as a game show and talk show host. He gained popularity as a panelist on televised game shows in the 1960s through the 1980s, and was a regular on To Tell the Truth. With over 200 appearances on The Tonight Show, he became a favorite of host Johnny Carson. Known for his storytelling skills, Bean was considered a mainstay of Los Angeles' small theater scene. He was born in Burlington, Vermont, and was the son of Marian Ainsworth and George Frederick Burrows, a founding member of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
