Richard Widmark Biography
Richard Weedt Widmark (December 26, 1914 – March 24, 2008) was an American film, stage, and television actor and producer. Widmark gained recognition for his role as the villainous Tommy Udo in his debut film, Kiss of Death (1947), earning him an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer. He initially found success in portraying similar villainous or anti-hero characters in films noir and later expanded his repertoire to include leading and supporting roles in Westerns, mainstream dramas, and horror films. Widmark was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame. He was born on December 26, 1914, in Sunrise Township, Minnesota.
