Sanaa McCoy Lathan is an American actress, born on September 19, 1971. She began her career by appearing in TV shows such as In the House, Family Matters, NYPD Blue, and Moesha. Lathan gained prominence for her role in the 1998 superhero film Blade, and went on to star in movies like The Best Man, Love & Basketball, Disappearing Acts, and Brown Sugar. She received a Tony Awards nomination for her performance in the Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun in 2004. Lathan also played the role of Alexa 'Lex' Woods in the film Alien vs. Predator, and had a leading role in The Family That Preys. She has also worked in theatre, including a performance in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in London.
