Sasson Gabai Biography
Sasson Gabai (born November 24, 1947) is an Israeli actor known for his remarkable performances in both film and theater. Born in Baghdad, Iraq, to a Baghdadi Jewish family, Gabai immigrated to Israel during his childhood. After completing his mandatory military service in the Israel Defense Forces, he pursued his passion for acting and studied theater and psychology at Tel Aviv University. Gabai has worked extensively in the theater industry, performing in notable productions at the Khan Theater, Hacameri Theater, Be'er Sheva Theater, and Beit Lessin Theater. He is a permanent member of the Beit Lessin Theater and has appeared in plays such as Servant of Two Masters, Catch-22, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and Rain Man. Gabai's outstanding acting skills have earned him recognition and accolades, including an Ophir Award, Asia Pacific Screen Award nomination, European Film Awards, and Jerusalem Film Festival in 2007 for his exceptional portrayal in the highly acclaimed Israeli film, The Band's Visit.
