Scott Wilson (March 29, 1942 – October 6, 2018) was an American actor known for his work in film and television. With over 50 film credits, he appeared in notable movies such as In the Heat of the Night, In Cold Blood, The Great Gatsby, Dead Man Walking, Pearl Harbor, and Junebug. Wilson received a Golden Globe nomination in 1980 for Best Supporting Actor - Motion Picture for his role in The Ninth Configuration. On television, he portrayed veterinarian Hershel Greene in The Walking Dead from 2011 to 2014 and in 2018. He played casino mogul Sam Braun on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and had a lead role in the Netflix series The OA as Abel Johnson. Wilson was born as William Delano Wilson in Thomasville, Georgia.
