Shabana Azmi Biography
Shabana Azmi (born 18 September 1950) is an Indian actress of film, television, and theatre. With a career spanning over 160 films, she has made a significant contribution to the Hindi film industry. Azmi is known for her versatile performances and has portrayed distinctive female characters across various genres. She has received numerous awards and accolades, including five National Film Awards for Best Actress, five Filmfare Awards, and international recognition. Azmi is an alumna of the Film and Television Institute of India and made her film debut in 1974. She is the daughter of poet Kaifi Azmi and stage actress Shaukat Azmi. In recognition of her contributions, the Government of India honored her with the Padma Shri in 1998 and the Padma Bhushan in 2012.
