Sheryl Swoopes Biography
Sheryl Denise Swoopes is an American former professional basketball player. Born on March 25, 1971, in Brownfield, Texas, Swoopes is widely recognized as a pioneer in women's basketball. She made history as the first player to be signed in the WNBA and was a three-time WNBA MVP. Swoopes's remarkable career includes three Olympic gold medals and being one of only eleven women's basketball players to have won an Olympic gold medal, an NCAA Championship, a FIBA World Cup gold, and a WNBA title. In recognition of her accomplishments, she was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016 and inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017.
