Sir Simon Russell Beale (born 12 January 1961) is an English actor known for his performances in film, television, and theatre. He has received numerous accolades including two BAFTA Awards, three Olivier Awards, and a Tony Award. Beale started his acting career at the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre, receiving ten Laurence Olivier Award nominations and winning three. He made his film debut in Sally Potter's Orlando (1992) and has since appeared in various movies such as The Gathering Storm (2002) and My Week with Marilyn (2011). Beale has also made notable television appearances in shows like Penny Dreadful and The Hollow Crown. In 2019, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to drama.
