Patricia Castle Richardson (born February 23, 1951) is an American actress. She is best known for her portrayal of Jill Taylor on the ABC sitcom Home Improvement, a role that earned her four Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and two Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical. Richardson also received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her performance in Ulee's Gold (1997). She attended several schools including Holton-Arms School and Hockaday School, and graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1972. Richardson was suggested for the role of Jill Taylor by her friend Stephen Tobolowsky, who was initially cast for Home Improvement but had other commitments.
