Ted Danson portrayed the character of Sam Malone, the charming and womanizing former professional baseball player who becomes the bartender and owner of Cheers. Sam is known for his confident personality and ongoing love affairs.

Shelley Long portrayed the character of Diane Chambers, a highly educated and sophisticated waitress at Cheers. Diane is known for her snobbish and intellectual persona, as well as her love-hate relationship with Sam Malone.
