Maitreyi Ramakrishnan portrays the lead character, Devi Vishwakumar. Poorna Jagannathan plays the role of Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar, Devi's mother. Driven, caring, and strict, Nalini is a first-generation Indian immigrant who is focused on providing the best future for her daughter. She tries to balance her traditional values with her desire to give Devi the freedom she needs to grow.

Jaren Lewison portrays Ben Gross, a popular and overachieving student at Sherman Oaks High. Ben is known for his intelligence and leadership skills. Despite his confident exterior, he harbors insecurities and struggles to connect with others on a deeper level.

Darren Barnet plays the role of Paxton Hall-Yoshida, a popular and good-looking athlete. Paxton is a carefree and easygoing guy who becomes an object of Devi's romantic interest. Blessed with good looks, he is often underestimated due to assumptions people make based on his appearance.

Lee Rodriguez portrays Fabiola Torres, one of Devi's best friends. Fabiola is a smart, talented, and introverted girl who loves science and robotics. Through her character, the show explores the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals and the process of self-discovery.

Ramona Young plays Eleanor Wong, Devi's other best friend. Eleanor is an eccentric and free-spirited girl who embraces her uniqueness. Her character adds comedic relief and showcases the importance of self-acceptance and being true to oneself.
