Alan Moore (born 18 November 1953) is an English author known for his work in comic books. He is widely recognized as one of the best comic book writers in the English language. Some of his notable works include Watchmen, V for Vendetta, The Ballad of Halo Jones, Swamp Thing, Batman: The Killing Joke, and From Hell. Moore started writing for British underground and alternative fanzines in the late 1970s before gaining success in magazines like 2000 AD and Warrior. He was the first comics writer living in Britain to achieve prominence in America, working on major characters like Batman and Superman. Moore has also used pseudonyms such as Curt Vile and Jill de Ray.
