Alex O'Loughlin

Alex O'Loughlin (born August 24, 1976) is an Australian actor, writer, director, and producer. He is best known for his portrayal of Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett on CBS' remake of the TV series Hawaii Five-0 (2010–2020). O'Loughlin has also had notable roles in the films Oyster Farmer (2004) and The Back-up Plan (2010), as well as on the television series Moonlight (2007–2008) and Three Rivers (2009–2010). Born in Canberra, Australia, on August 24, 1976, O'Loughlin is of Irish and Scottish descent. He enrolled at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney in 1999 and graduated in June 2002. O'Loughlin's career began with short films and fringe theatre in his teenage years.
