August Diehl

August Diehl is a German actor known for his roles in various films. He gained international recognition for his portrayal of Gestapo major Dieter Hellstrom in Quentin Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds' and as Michael 'Mike' Krause, Evelyn Salt's husband, in the movie 'Salt'. Diehl has also played leading roles in acclaimed films such as 'The Counterfeiters', 'The Young Karl Marx', and Terrence Malick's 'A Hidden Life'. Born on January 4, 1976, in West Berlin, Diehl comes from a family of artists, with his father being an actor and his mother a costume designer. He studied acting at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch in Berlin after completing his Abitur exams.
