Blanchard Ryan, born Susan Blanchard Ryan, is an American actress known for her roles in television and independent films. She gained recognition for her performance in the 2003 film Open Water, which earned her a Saturn Award for Best Actress. Ryan has also appeared in other notable films such as The Brooklyn Heist and It's Complicated. Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, she developed a passion for ice hockey, being the daughter of Ron Ryan, former president of the Philadelphia Flyers. Ryan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political philosophy from the University of New Hampshire. Prior to her acting career, she worked at MTV in the special-effects department.
