DeForest Kelley
DeForest Kelley (1920–1999) was an American actor, screenwriter, poet, and singer. He was known for his roles in Westerns and as Dr. Leonard 'Bones' McCoy of the USS Enterprise in the Star Trek TV and film series (1966–1991). Born in Toccoa, Georgia, Kelley was the son of a Baptist minister and named after electronics engineer Lee de Forest. He had a passion for music and regularly sang solo in church services. Although he initially aspired to become a doctor, his family's financial constraints led him to pursue a career in acting. Kelley's portrayal of Dr. McCoy in Star Trek earned him widespread recognition and made him a beloved figure among fans of the franchise.
