Dick Clark, born Richard Wagstaff Clark on November 30, 1929, was an American television and radio personality, as well as a television producer and film actor. He gained prominence as the host of American Bandstand, a show that introduced rock and roll to a wide audience from 1956 to 1989. Clark also hosted multiple iterations of the Pyramid game show and Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, a popular program that broadcasted New Year's Eve celebrations in New York City's Times Square. Throughout his career, he provided a platform for emerging music artists, including Ike & Tina Turner, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Stevie Wonder, Simon & Garfunkel, and Madonna.
