Frederic Fenimore Forrest Jr. (December 23, 1936 – June 23, 2023) was an American actor known for his work in both film and television. He gained recognition for his performance in the film When the Legends Die (1972), which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. Forrest received further acclaim for his role as Huston Dyer in the musical drama The Rose (1979), earning nominations for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. He also portrayed Jay 'Chef' Hicks in Francis Ford Coppola's war film Apocalypse Now (1979) and worked with Coppola on several other films. Forrest's career included notable appearances in The Missouri Breaks (1976), The Two Jakes (1990), and Falling Down (1993), as well as roles in TV series like 21 Jump Street, Lonesome Dove, and Die Kinder.
