Jared Tristan Padalecki (born July 19, 1982) is an American actor. He gained recognition for his role as Sam Winchester in the TV series Supernatural. Padalecki's career took off in the early 2000s with appearances in the television series Gilmore Girls and films such as New York Minute (2004) and House of Wax (2005), followed by a starring role in Friday the 13th (2009). Born in San Antonio, Texas, to Gerald and Sherri Padalecki, he has Polish, German, Scottish, French, and English ancestry. Padalecki was a candidate for the Presidential Scholars Program in 2000 and won the National Forensic League national championship in Duo Interpretation in 1998.
