Joyce Van Patten Biography
Joyce Benignia Van Patten (born March 9, 1934) is an American film and stage actress. She is known for her roles in films such as The Bad News Bears (1976), St. Elmo's Fire (1985) (as Mrs. Beamish), and Grown Ups (2010) where she played Gloria Noonan. Van Patten's mother had Italian roots, while her father had Dutch and English ancestry. She was married to actor Martin Balsam from 1959 to 1962, and they had a daughter, actress Talia Balsam. Van Patten has appeared in numerous television series, including the original cast of As the World Turns and The Danny Kaye Show. She also had a recurring role in the sitcom The Good Guys.
