Layne Beachley
Layne Beachley is an Australian former professional surfer and one of the most successful female surfers in history. Born on May 24, 1972, in Manly, New South Wales, Beachley began her professional surfing career at the age of 16. By the time she was 20, she was ranked sixth in the world. Beachley became the Women's ASP World Champion in 1998 and went on to win the title an impressive seven times. She holds the record for the most World Championships won by a woman and is the only surfer, male or female, to have won six consecutive world titles. Beachley was inducted into the Surfers' Hall of Fame in 2006 and currently serves as the chair of Surfing Australia.
