Mariann Aalda

Mariann Aalda is an American television, stage, film actress, performance artist, and stand-up comic. She gained recognition for her portrayal of DiDi Bannister-Stoner, one of the first African-American daytime soap opera heroines, on ABC's The Edge of Night from 1981 to 1984. Prior to her television work, Aalda was a writer-performer with Off Center Theatre, a sketch comedy troupe in New York, and toured with the improv group The Proposition. She also appeared on CBS' Guiding Light, The Royal Family, and HBO's 1st & Ten. Aalda's notable recurring roles include Lita Ford on Designing Women and a character on the NBC soap opera Sunset Beach.
