She gained recognition as a participant in the films of Mike Leigh and won the European Film Award for Best Actress for her role in Leigh's 'High Hopes' (1988). Sheen has had recurring roles in TV shows like 'Berkeley Square' (1998) and 'Bramwell' (1995–1998), as well as appearing in multiple episodes of 'The Bill' (1989–2004).
