Theodore Anthony Nugent, born on December 13, 1948, is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and political activist. He gained fame as the lead guitarist and occasional vocalist of The Amboy Dukes, a band formed in 1963. Nugent then pursued a successful solo career after dissolving the band. His first three solo albums, Ted Nugent (1975), Free-for-All (1976), and Cat Scratch Fever (1977), achieved multi-platinum certification in the United States. Nugent is renowned for his bluesy and frenzied guitar playing, along with his energetic live shows. While having a distinctive singing voice, he collaborated with various lead singers throughout his early solo career. Nugent's most popular song is the 1977 hit, "Cat Scratch Fever".
