Troy Donahue Biography
Troy Donahue, born Merle Johnson Jr. on January 27, 1936 in New York City, was an American film and television actor and singer. He gained popularity as a sex symbol in the 1950s and 1960s. Donahue's father, Merle Johnson, was the manager of the motion-picture department of General Motors, while his mother, Edith Johnson, was a retired stage actress. Despite his parents' wishes for a more stable career, Donahue pursued acting and had a passion for Broadway and theater. He starred in numerous movies and TV shows throughout his career, becoming a well-known personality in the entertainment industry. Troy Donahue passed away on September 2, 2001.
