Abbas Milani
Abbas Malekzadeh Milani (born 1949) is an Iranian-American historian, educator, and author. He is a visiting professor of political science and the Hamid and Christina Moghadam Director of the Iranian Studies program at Stanford University. Additionally, Milani is a research fellow and co-director of the Iran Democracy Project at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. He has authored numerous books, including Lost Wisdom: Rethinking Modernity in Iran (2004), where he presents evidence of Persian modernism existing over 1,000 years ago. Milani was born in Iran, but moved to California at the age of sixteen. He completed his education at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Hawaiʻi, earning his Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in political science, respectively.
