    Adam Silver (born April 25, 1962) is an American lawyer and sports executive. He is currently serving as the fifth and current commissioner of the National Basketball Association (NBA), a position he has held since 2014. Prior to becoming commissioner, Silver served in various positions within the NBA, including chief operating officer and deputy commissioner. Under his leadership, the NBA has experienced significant economic and global growth, particularly in China. Silver gained attention in 2014 when he forced Donald Sterling to sell the Los Angeles Clippers after making racist remarks. Silver was born into a Jewish-American family and grew up in Rye, New York.
