Adam Wood Biography
Adam Kenneth Compton Wood (born 13 March 1955) is a retired British diplomat and former Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man. He attended the Royal Grammar School in High Wycombe and graduated from Oriel College, Oxford in 1977. Wood's career in diplomacy included serving as the British High Commissioner to Uganda from 2002 to 2005 and later as the High Commissioner to Kenya from 2005 to 2008. Before retiring from the diplomatic service in 2010, he held the position of Africa Director at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, overseeing Britain's embassies in Africa. Wood assumed the role of Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man in 2011 and served until 2016.
