Khandkar Mohammad Adil Hussain, born on 5 October 1963, is an Indian actor known for his work in Indian and international cinema. He has appeared in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, Norwegian, and French films. Some of his notable films include The Reluctant Fundamentalist and Life of Pi. Hussain received National Film Awards (Special Jury) for his roles in Hotel Salvation and Maj Rati Keteki. Born into an Assamese Muslim family in Goalpara, Assam, Hussain's background is multiethnic, with Iraqi, Assamese, English, and Italian roots. He began his acting career in school plays and later pursued studies in philosophy.
