Adolph Green (December 2, 1914 – October 23, 2002) was an American lyricist and playwright best known for his collaboration with Betty Comden. Together, they wrote the screenplays and songs for several iconic musicals on both Broadway and in Hollywood. With their unique comic genius and sophisticated wit, Green and Comden received numerous accolades, including four Tony Awards and nominations for two Academy Awards and a Grammy Award. Some of their notable works include the musicals 'On the Town' (1944), 'Wonderful Town' (1953), 'Bells Are Ringing' (1956), and 'The Will Rogers Follies' (1991). Green was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1980 and the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 1981. They were honored with the Kennedy Center Honor in 1991.
