Adrian Martin

Adrian Martin (born 1959) is an Australian film and arts critic known for his extensive work in the field. He currently resides in Malgrat de Mar, Spain. Martin holds the position of Adjunct Associate Professor in Film Culture and Theory at Monash University. Throughout his career, his writings have been published in numerous magazines, journals, and newspapers worldwide, and have been translated into over twenty languages. Martin regularly contributes columns to the Dutch De Filmkrant and Caiman: Cuadernos de cine. He received his education at St Joseph's College and Melbourne State College, focusing on film and media studies. In 2006, he earned a PhD in Film Style from Monash University, with his thesis titled 'Toward a Synthetic Analysis of Film Style,' which received the prestigious Mollie Holman Doctoral Medal for Best PhD Thesis in the Faculty of Arts and Design.
