Ahmed Rashid

Ahmed Rashid is a Pakistani journalist and bestselling author known for his books on Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Central Asia. Born in Rawalpindi in 1948, Rashid attended Malvern College in England and later studied at Government College Lahore and Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. After graduation, he spent ten years in Balochistan, attempting to organize an uprising against Pakistani military dictatorships. Frustrated and defeated, he turned to writing about his homeland. Rashid has worked as the Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Central Asia Correspondent for The Daily Telegraph for over 20 years and has also written for The Wall Street Journal, The Nation, and Daily Times. He frequently appears on international TV channels and radio networks.
