Ako Castuera

Ako Castuera is an American artist known for her work as a writer and storyboard artist on the animated television series Adventure Time. Castuera's diverse heritage includes Mexican and Okinawan roots. Born at home to non-hippy parents, she had a unique upbringing in a commune. She obtained her degree from the California College of the Arts and gained recognition through her involvement with Giant Robot, a magazine focusing on Asian and Asian American culture. Castuera's talent caught the attention of the industry, leading her to work as a character designer on the Adult Swim series Metalocalypse. Her indie comic impressed Pendleton Ward, resulting in her being hired as a storyboard revisionist for Adventure Time.
