Al Bernstein Biography
Al Bernstein (born September 15, 1950) is an American sportscaster, writer, stage performer, recording artist, and speaker. In the 1970s, Bernstein worked as a newspaperman at Lerner Newspapers in Chicago, eventually becoming a managing editor. He wrote the instructional and historical book Boxing For Beginners in 1978 and contributed to Boxing Illustrated and The Ring. Bernstein joined ESPN in 1980 as a Top Rank Boxing series analyst, also working as a reporter for SportsCenter. He hosted the series Big Fights Boxing Hour for ESPN Classic. He won the Sam Taub Award for boxing broadcasting journalism in 1988 and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2012. Bernstein has released books including 30 Years, 30 Undeniable Truths About Boxing, Sports and TV.
